At Rogue Ales & Spirits HQ in Newport, cauterizing bungholes is just part of the daily barrel-making grind for cooper Nate Lindquist at Rolling Thunder Barrel Works.

All laughs aside, the bunghole is an essential part of a barrel. It’s the opening drilled into the side of a barrel that’s used to fill the cask with spirits, beer, cider, soda – or anything else we may want to barrel age. Read more about our bungholes.
