Dead Guy Whiskey Awards

Ocean aging our Dead Guy Whiskey at the Rogue House of Spirits in Newport, Oregon.

A couple of nice nods to our Dead Guy Whiskey. It won a silver medal at the American Distilling Institute conference in Denver, and a silver at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

The competition for these awards are fierce. At ADI, we were up against 127 American craft whiskeys. The San Francisco contest had 1407 entries from around the world, including Bearded Lady, Cedar Ridge and Reservoir. Those southern good ole boys can be tough.

Winning medals is nice. But that’s not why we do it. Going up against the best in the business shows us how to be better. The comments we get from judges and competitors is what parents like to call “teachable moments”. Sometimes you learn more from losing.
