Another week of good malting barley weather at Rogue Farms in Tygh Valley. Light, steady rain. Cool overnight temps, but not cold.
It’s a good start for our Risk™ winter malting barley. Risk™ barley doesn’t really grow this time of year. Goes up about six inches and pauses. Stays dormant over the winter but still draws nutrients and moisture from the soil. Growing resumes in early spring as temperatures warm. Those days are getting close.
Risk™ is a reliable winner. Hits ideal malting barley specs season after season. This might be our best crop ever. Can’t wait to start making spirits and beer with it.
